Abstract

This study aims to analyze the efficiency of electricity production at PT. PLTMH POIGAR during the period from March 8 to March 31, 2024. Electricity production data from both PLTMH units were analyzed to evaluate the overall system performance. The analysis results indicate that electricity production did not reach its maximum potential, with an average value below the installed capacity of 2.4 MW. Although the maximum turbine efficiency achievable is 72.5%, the observed actual efficiency is only 48.35%. Based on the findings, the main factor causing the efficiency decline is the shortage of water supply due to siltation in the reservoir and channels. It was found that the volume of water entering the turbine decreased from 3.8m³ to about 2.53m³ due to siltation, reducing the volume of water in the channels and reservoir.Building on these findings, the study recommends a series of measures to improve the efficiency of electricity production. These measures include dredging the mud in the reservoir, adding reservoir volume, and implementing advanced monitoring technology to monitor water capacity and siltation levels in real-time. Implementation of these recommendations is expected to increase the efficiency of electricity production at PLTMH POIGAR. This study not only provides in-depth insights into the factors affecting the efficiency of electricity production at PLTMH POIGAR but also lays an important foundation for further research in this field. Thus, this study has the potential to make a significant contribution to efforts to enhance the efficiency of electricity production from renewable energy sources in the future
