Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify and describe the change in the meaning of the Ma'Rukup tradition in the Tondei Satu Village community which focuses on Grief and the values ​​contained in the Ma'Rukup tradition . The research process was carried out in Tondei Satu Village, Motoling Barat District, South Minahasa Regency. The tradition of Ma'Rukup in grief has a valuable purpose in the eyes of a bereaved family. The method used in this research is qualitative research methods with data collection techniques, namely observation and structured interviews. The results showed that: (1) changes in the meaning of the Ma'Rukup tradition caused by a change that is desired or planned. (2) seen from the times, causing changes in the ways and forms of carrying out Ma'Rukup in grief and changing the nature of society. The values ​​contained in the Ma'Rukup tradition: (1) togetherness (2) religious ​​(3) family ​​(4) moral ​​and (5) hard work together.
