BUDAYA MASYARAKAT MONGONDOW KETURUNAN JAWA DALAM MELANJUTKAN PENDIDIKAN ANAK DI PERGURUAN TINGGI (STUDI KASUS DI DESA MOPUYA KECAMATAN DUMOGA UTARA KABUPATEN BOLAANG MONGONDOW)

Abstract

The problem in this research is how is the culture of the Javanese people of Mongondow in continuing their children's education in tertiary institutions? While the purpose of this study is to see the culture of the Javanese descent Mongondow in the village of Mopuya in continuing the education of children in tertiary institutions. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. in a research method a way that researchers can use in research. The data techniques used were observation and interviews. The data analysis used by the writer is data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Based on the results of the research in this study, the Javanese descent Mongondow culture in the village of Mopuya in continuing their children's education in higher education has a culture of "ngelmu" which means seeking knowledge. where before doing something there must be an agreement with other family members and includes helping with children's education. For them, girls have to continue their education while boys who have a heavy role or task in family members, one of them has to help them earn a living. Regarding children's education, prioritizing girls in school does not mean that education for boys is not important because they believe that boys have a bigger role in family members. and usually the boys will give in and prefer to help them in the fields or find work in the city.
