Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) the influence of the use of mobile phones on friendship ties among students of the sociology education study program at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Manado State University, (2) the magnitude of the influence of the use of mobile phones on friendship ties among students of the sociology education study program, faculty of social sciences. Manado State University. The method used in this research is a quantitative approach method using a descriptive study method. Descriptive research is intended to provide a clearer picture of social situations by focusing on certain aspects and often showing the influence between various variables. The sample in this study were 37 people, data collection techniques used observation, questionnaires and documentation. Test the validity of the instrument using Product Moment correlation and reliability test using Cronbach's Alpha. The hypothesis test consists of a simple linear regression test. The results showed that: (1) There was an effect of using mobile phones on friendship ties among students of the sociology education study program, Faculty of Social Sciences, Manado State University with the results of the t test analysis, the value of thit was 6.649, greater than ttab of 1.68, significance level of 0.05 with a coefficient of determination of 55.80%.
