Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the socioeconomic conditions of the Aren Sugar farming community in Picuan Village, East Motoling Sub-district, South Minahasa Regency. The method used in this research is qualitative method with data collection techniques used are observation, interview, and documentation. The data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive data analysis technique. Land area is one of the factors affecting the income of palm sugar farmers in Picuan Village, East Motolling Subdistrict; Although using traditional tools in palm sugar making technology, the price of palm sugar does not increase except on holidays; Accessibility or the distance traveled to get to the location of palm sugar making can be reached by 2-wheeled vehicles or 4-wheeled vehicles; The income of palm sugar farmers ranges from Rp.800.00 - Rp.1,000.00. .00 - Rp. 1,000,000 in a week; Capital spent in processing palm sugar is not too much because it is only to buy some tools that support the processing of palm sugar; The economy of the palm sugar farming community in Picuan Village, East Motoling Subdistrict is still very below standard this is also due to the absence of assistance from the government in helping farmers in processing palm sugar.
