Abstract

Agama memiliki peran pelindung atau protektif bagi individu dari risiko perilaku bunuh diri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan peran protektif agama dalam pencegahan perilaku bunuh diri di level individu, komunitas dan institusi. Penelitian ini juga menjelaskan bagaimana peran protektif agama bekerja dengan kerangka konseptual terintegrasi dari Berkman et al. (2000), yang berpijak pada perspektif sosiologi dari Émile Durkheim sebagai landasan teori utama. Beberapa konsep kunci dari kerangka konseptual ini yang muncul dalam pembahasan antara lain jaringan sosial, mekanisme psikososial dan dampak mekanisme tersebut terhadap kesehatan mental individu.  Systematic literature review (SLR) diterapkan untuk mencapai tujuan penelitian. Kajian dilakukan secara sistematis terhadap 14 artikel penelitian yang diterbitkan dalam rentang waktu tahun 2020-2025. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa peran protektif agama dalam pencegahan bunuh diri dapat dilihat dari kontribusinya dalam membangun kekuatan internal di level individu dan menyediakan dukungan eksternal di level komunitas dan institusi. Dukungan eksternal ini menopang kekuatan internal individu. Berdasarkan kerangka konseptual Berkman et al. (2000), agama menyediakan jaringan sosial yang memungkinkan mekanisme psikososial terjadi. Mekanisme ini hadir dalam tiga bentuk yaitu dukungan sosial, pengaruh sosial dan akses ke sumber daya. Ketiga bentuk mekanisme tersebut memengaruhi perilaku kesehatan dan psikologis seseorang ke arah yang positif sehingga dirinya dapat terhindar dari risiko masuk ke dalam kontinum perilaku bunuh diri (ideasi, rencana, percobaan hingga bunuh diri selesai).
