Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of the big five personality on the impostor phenomenon in students of the Psychology Study Program, Faculty of Education and Psychology, Manado State University. The research method used was a quantitative method with a sample of 181 subjects using a sampling technique, namely purposive sampling. The Impostor Phenomenon in this study was measured using the Clance Impostor Phenomenon Scale (CIPS) which was modified by researchers and the Big Five Personality was measured using the International Personality Item Pool - Big Five Markers (IPIP - BFM) measuring instrument. The CIPS validity test found 20 valid items and the IPIP – BFM validity test found 42 valid items. Of all the dimensions studied, it shows that the extraversion dimension has a calculated t value of -2.760 with a significant value of 0.006 (p < 0.05). It is concluded that the extraversion dimension has a significant negative influence on the impostor phenomenon along with the emotional stability dimension which has a t value. The calculated value is – 4.498 with a significant value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), which means that the emotional stability dimension has a significant negative influence on the impostor phenomenon, while the agreeableness, conscientiousness and intellect dimensions do not have a significant influence on the impostor phenomenon.
