Learning devices have an important role in the learning process, one of which is to attract students to study material that has high abstract levels, for example additives and addictive substances and their effects on health. This study aims to produce products and determine the effectiveness of the feasibility of using learning devices material additives and addictive substances and their effects on health. This research is a Research and Development (R & D) study using Nine steps proposed by Dick & Carey (2001). The trial phase is only limited to content experts / learning materials and learning design experts using questionnaires. The results of the assessment of learning devices by expert content/learning material obtained a percentage of feasibility of 89.3% (Student Books), 88.7% (Teacher Books) with high qualifications (feasible, do not need to be revised), need not be revised. The assessment of learning design experts obtained a percentage of eligibility of 84.3% (for teacher books) and 84.3% (for student books) with high and decent categories, no need to be revised. In conclusion, the learning devices developed are suitable to be used as a class VIII SMP Thematic Science learning tool for additives and addictive substances and their effects on health.
