Pengaruh Pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) dan Metode Discovery Learning Terhadap Peningkatan Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Siswa

Based on the results of observations made at SMA Kristen 1 Tomohon in class XII MIA, many students consider that learning biology is understood, which is characterized by many students who have not met the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM), 70 specifically for metabolic material. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of contextual teaching and learning (CTL) and discovery learning methods on improving students' critical thinking skills. This research is a quasi-experimental study in which the subject is students. The population taken was students of class XII MIA consisting of 4 classes. The samples were taken 2 homogeneous classes namely class XII MIA 2 as the experimental class and XII MIA 1 as the control class. Hypothesis testing using critical thinking posttest data at a real level α = 0.05, the data before the t test were tested for normality and homogeneity. The result of the study showed that the average of the experimental class was 83.32 while the control class was 65.08. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the CTL approach and the method of discovery learning affect the improvement of students' critical thinking skills.
