Abstract
This study aims to describe the Project Based Learning model in improving the poetry writing skills of fourth grade students at SD Negeri 1 Tataaran. This study is a classroom action research. This study was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection activities. The subjects of the classroom action research were 28 fourth-grade students at Tataaran 1 Public Elementary School. Data collection techniques included observation sheets and tests. Descriptive analysis was used. Based on the learning outcome percentage obtained in cycle I, which was 59%, improvements were needed in cycle II. In cycle II, the learning outcome reached 93%, which means that the learning outcome in cycle II had improved and had reached the classical mastery standard. Therefore, it can be concluded that the application of the Project-Based Learning model in improving the poetry writing skills of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Tataaran was successful.
