Abstract

This study uses qualitative methods, namely research that does not make calculations. The background of this research was that a Civics teacher who taught at SMA Negeri 2 Dumoga was not a PPKn graduate teacher. So that when the teacher teaches only using textbooks, the teacher also does not understand the material or subject matter and the teacher cannot manage the class well. The purpose of this research is to find out how the impact of teacher professionalism in Civics learning at SMA Negeri 2 Dumoga. The data collection technique was carried out by interviewing the principal, Civics subject teacher and students of class XI Mia 2 at SMA Negeri 2 Dumoga. The results showed that the teacher experienced difficulties in teaching subjects that were not in their field and had an impact on students who had difficulty receiving the material provided by the teacher, this was evident because there were still many students who needed to remedial on Civics subjects. The conclusion is that teacher professionalism is needed to increase student interest and learning outcomes in Civics subjects.
