This Privacy Statement and Publication Ethics outline the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process of Literacy: Jurnal Pendidikan Ekonomi, including the publisher, editors, reviewers, and authors. This statement is adapted from the Regulation of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) No. 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publication. Scientific publication ethics uphold three fundamental principles: (i) Neutrality, free from conflicts of interest in managing publications; (ii) Fairness, ensuring proper authorship and credit to those entitled; and (iii) Honesty, ensuring the absence of duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P).
Duties and Responsibilities of the Journal Management
The management of Literacy: Jurnal Pendidikan Ekonomi operates based on ethical principles and standards as follows:
1. Determining the journal title, scope, publication frequency, and accreditation (if applicable).
2. Appointing members of the editorial board.
3. Defining relationships among the publisher, editors, reviewers, and other stakeholders through formal agreements.
4. Respecting confidentiality for contributors, authors, editors, and reviewers.
5. Implementing policies related to intellectual property rights, particularly copyright.
6. Reviewing and communicating journal policies to authors, editors, reviewers, and readers.
7. Establishing guidelines for editorial and reviewer conduct.
8. Publishing the journal regularly and consistently.
9. Ensuring sustainable funding sources for journal continuity.
10. Developing collaborations with research institutions and relevant organizations.
11. Managing legal permits and other regulatory requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities of Editors
Editors of Literacy: Jurnal Pendidikan Ekonomi are responsible for:
1. Bridging the needs of readers and authors.
2. Continuously improving publication quality.
3. Ensuring the quality of published manuscripts through rigorous editorial processes.
4. Upholding objectivity and academic freedom.
5. Maintaining the integrity of authors’ academic records.
6. Issuing corrections, clarifications, or apologies when necessary.
7. Ensuring writing style and formatting standards, while content responsibility remains with the authors.
8. Actively seeking feedback from authors, reviewers, and editorial board members.
9. Conducting regular internal evaluations of journal quality.
10. Supporting ethical publication practices by requiring ethical clearance statements during submission.
11. Being open to new ideas and differing perspectives for scientific advancement.
12. Avoiding biased decisions and resolving disputes through academically accountable approaches.
13. Encouraging authors to revise manuscripts until they meet publication standards.
Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers play a crucial role in maintaining the quality of scientific publications. Their responsibilities include:
1. Reviewing manuscripts critically and providing recommendations to editors regarding publication eligibility.
2. Declining to review manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist.
3. Providing constructive feedback and recommendations.
4. Maintaining confidentiality of manuscripts and review results.
5. Encouraging authors to improve their work.
6. Re-evaluating revised manuscripts according to established standards.
7. Completing reviews in a timely manner following journal guidelines and scientific principles.
Duties and Responsibilities of Authors
Authors submitting to Literacy: Jurnal Pendidikan Ekonomi must:
1. Ensure that all listed authors meet authorship criteria.
2. Take collective responsibility for the content, including methods, analysis, and results.
3. Disclose all sources of funding and support.
4. Clearly state limitations of the research.
5. Respond professionally and promptly to reviewer and editor comments.
6. Notify the editor in writing if withdrawing a manuscript.
7. Confirm that the manuscript is original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere in any language.
Ethical Compliance
Research involving human participants or animals must include ethical approval from the relevant ethics committee where applicable.
1. All studies must comply with relevant national and institutional guidelines.
2. Authors must ensure that their research institutions have approved the research protocols.
3. All experiments must be conducted in accordance with ethical research principles following formal approval.
