IMPROVING STUDENTS LISTENING SKILL THROUGH WATCHING ENGLISH MOVIES AT SMA NEGERI 1 MANADO

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out if watching movies can improve students’ listening skill. The study using pre-experimental design with one group Pre-Test and Post-Test. The subject of the research were 32 students at SMA Negeri 1 Manado. For the question of the tests, researcher used 20 items in form of multiple choice to collect the data. Before giving them treatment, the students took a Pre-test in the first meeting; following the treatment in 2 meetings, the last meeting the students took a Post-test. The Mean score from the Pre- test was 67.9 and mean score from the Post-test was 87,1. Based from the data that has been shown above, the Post-Test result was better than Pre-test. It can be concluded that watching English Movies is considered effective to improve Listening Skill for the students.
