Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

This Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement outlines the ethical standards followed by Bloom Journal, published by the Program Studi Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar, Universitas Negeri Manado. The principles are adapted from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and apply to all parties involved in the publishing process: authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

Articles published in Bloom Journal contribute significantly to the development of a well-respected and coherent network of knowledge in education. These articles reflect both the quality of the writers and the institutions they represent. Therefore, it is essential that all parties involved adhere to agreed-upon ethical standards. The journal’s editors are committed to ensuring that all procedures are designed to foster objective and intellectually rigorous treatment of submissions. Additionally, manuscripts are evaluated impartially, without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political or group interests.

Duties of Authors

  • Authors are responsible for submitting only original work that has not been published elsewhere.
  • Manuscripts under review should not be submitted to other journals simultaneously.
  • Authors may submit their work to other journals only after receiving a formal rejection from Bloom Journal or after their withdrawal request has been accepted.
  • Authors must promptly inform the Chief Editor or the publisher if they discover any inaccuracies in their published work, so that corrections or retractions can be made.
  • Authors must make substantial contributions to the work and are accountable for any shortcomings.

Duties of Reviewers

  • Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest before agreeing to review a manuscript.
  • They may refuse to review a submission if there is a conflict of interest or if they feel they lack the necessary expertise.
  • Reviews should be conducted objectively, fairly, and professionally.
  • Reviewers should report any ethical misconduct to the Chief Editor for appropriate action.
  • Reviewers must ensure the originality of submissions and remain vigilant for plagiarism or redundant publication.
  • Reviewers must not discuss the content of a submission without the permission of the author.
  • Reviewers should adhere to the review deadlines. Requests for extensions are subject to the Chief Editor's approval.

Duties of Editorial Board Members

  • Editorial board members actively contribute to the development and improvement of the journal.
  • They serve as ambassadors for the journal, helping to promote and support its goals.
  • They are responsible for reviewing any work assigned to them by the Chief Editor.

Duties of the Chief Editor

  • The Chief Editor evaluates manuscripts based solely on their intellectual merit and ensures fairness in the review process.
  • Confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts is maintained; the Chief Editor will not disclose any manuscript details to anyone not directly involved in the publishing process.
  • The Chief Editor makes final decisions on the publication of articles.
  • The Chief Editor actively seeks feedback from board members, reviewers, and authors to enhance the journal's visibility and impact.
  • Clear instructions are provided to authors regarding the submission process and what is expected of their work.
  • The Chief Editor ensures that suitable reviewers are selected for each manuscript.

This statement of ethics ensures that Bloom Journal maintains the highest standards of publication integrity and contributes meaningfully to the field of education.
