Abstract

This research aims to determine the stress coping strategies used by unmarried Indonesian National Army soldiers at Kodim 1302 Minahasa to deal with stress. Stress According to Nazir & Muhit (2011). is a certain reaction that appears in the body which is usually caused by several demands, for example when humans experience challenges, when faced with threats or overcome unrealistic expectations. Coping strategies aim to overcome situations and demands that are felt to be pressing, challenging and burdensome. This research was conducted on three male subjects who work in the Army. This research uses a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach model. Determining subjects in this research used purposive sampling technique. The selection of stress coping strategies was revealed using the Lazarus method which divides coping into 2 types, namely problem-focused coping and emotion-focused coping. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the three research subjects who work as TNI in the Army can overcome their stress by implementing coping strategies, namely problem-focused coping, and emotional-focused coping, in this study many subjects chose emotion-focused coping but tended to use problem-focused coping in the form of self-activity.
